Ok, I won't put this as a status on facebook or anything, but in my own blog I will exclaim how proud I am. Joshua went #2 on the potty this morning after walking to the potty and I put him on and he did his business! Then, before bed he wanted on the potty again, and his little concentrating expression was too cute, and he went #1!! So, so, so proud of my little man. It's so funny too because I was looking at the blog I used to write for just the girls. I started it when they were J's age. This is the exact age when they wanted to go on the potty every night.
I am going to try and post soon about all our Spring Break fun. Just wanted to document this big day for my boy. He's so a toddler these days and less of a babe. We went to lunch with friends yesterday though, and everyone commented on how he's such a cuddler, and they never see such a happy sweet boy. He is so sweet. He truly is the perfect last baby. He lets me hold and cuddle him all the time, and just melts me every day. Tonight at dinner we were in a rush and started eating and he put out his hands to pray (we hold hands at dinner to pray). He's just such a perfect little boy.

Spring Has Sprung!
I love this time of year.
The girls got haircuts. I got angry. I specifically told the lady cutting Brianna's hair where I wanted it cut. She even asked me if I wanted it right below the letters on her shirt. Yes. Well, she cut a bunch in the front, and asked me how the length was. AUGH! It was THREE inches shorter or more than I had asked. She said it's right where you wanted, and then moved the robe and looked at the letters, and said, oh it is a lot shorter. You think? It was above the letters. I tried to not get too mad because Brianna liked it, and I didn't want her to end up disliking it because of my attitude. I told the lady though that they are identical twins and that's how most people tell them apart. Anyway, it'll grow. I got my hair trimmed just like 1/2 an inch....because, over the summer I'm donating my hair to locks of love. I'm really excited about this, and seeing how Cancer has affected so many people I love I feel like this is a way I can give back. I also think it's a great turning-30-I-want-to-do-something-meaningful type of thing.
Flowers, lots of sunshine, cool breeze, the anticipation of summer vacation, Easter and all the joy it brings, Easter bunny visits, Girl Scout cookies, and I'm not so great at getting rid of things for spring cleaning--I do like the idea of starting fresh in the Spring. Bring it, Spring-I'm ready for a new day and a new season!
I also love spring inspired treats for my lovies. I made these rainbow cupcakes today. So fun!

My Goddaughters turned 5 today. So proud of these sweet, amazing girls. So, blessed to have them and their family in our lives, and so glad they are my girls' best friends.

Speaking of...
Laugh
We've been doing a lot of laughing lately. Monday and Tuesday we went to a marriage seminar called, Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage. It was a great presentation. Nelson and I feel that our marriage is really solid, and hearing Mark Gungor talk about what is needed in a healthy marriage just solidified that. We felt proud of ourselves for knowing what's important and always making each other priorities, but it was good to hear things that remind you how to react to things in your marriage. I highly recommend checking out the website and looking to see if Mark will be in your town, or watching the DVD.
We did buy a book and codes that our needed to complete a flag page. I encourage everyone, married or single to do this. http://www.flagpage.com/ It comes out with your personality type, and your top 5 traits, and then it opens up wonderful communication about why those 5 things are most important to you. The personality types are: Control, Fun, Perfect and Peace. Perfect seemed to ring true for me (not that I'm perfect at all)...but that I'm very detail oriented, and sensitive to things, and like things in perfect order and I have a really hard time when they aren't. It was interesting to hear how when someone tries to get me to get over it and not let me feel the way I should about it that this is squashing the way God made me. So, it's important to know what your spouse is so that you can identify that if you yell at someone who is in the fun category and tell them to be quiet and not in the spotlight that that is telling them that you don't like the way God made them. The book talks about ways to talk and understand people in the different areas. Mark also talked about our children being in these areas and how usually a child in the perfect category can remember being sensitive as a child and being yelled at for something they did and always carrying that hurt with them. It makes me really think about my kids and how they deal with things and want to parent them better. They did an example of a couple Tuesday, and the couple was so different (married 28 years), and seeing how their flag page opened up communication even more and made them think about themselves was really interesting. Mark Gungor said that he does this a lot with the military to get men to talk. You can ask a lot of open ended questions and really get stories relating back to childhood about why this person feels strongly about a certain trait. We thought it was really intresting, and I'm excited to do our flag page soon.
The girls and the babe are doing well. Not too much to report there. Joshua is 17 months old now!! He's chewing on everything as he just had an eye tooth come all the way through and the other three are working on it. He's a full time walker now, and tries to keep up with his sisters and makes quite a few tumbles, since he's not able to run quite yet. He had such a vocabulary rush a couple months ago, and since has just stuck to the 20ish words he says, and he hasn't said anything new in awhile. I'm trying to remind myself that Mikayla did the same thing. She was quiet for so long and then all of a sudden was talking in sentences. Brianna, on the other hand, was our little parrot, and would repeat anything we said. It's funny that as soon as I start to worry about something he does it. This is a really fun age, and I am trying to enjoy it all, but so missing my little baby. We went to a music class yesterday, and it was so so different from the summer when he just stayed right with me, and let me move the rhythm sticks with him. My strong willed boy wanted to do it all himself, and didn't want to be held during the dance, but wanted to shake it all by himself. So strange how quickly he is growing....and don't even get me started on these girls. Seriously, they were infants yesterday and now they are these young ladies...who are being registered for kindergarten April 4th!!!

Challenging, but so rewarding
My girls are so wonderful, but lately I have been praying for a lot of patience. Everyone says girls are so whiny, dramatic, blah blah blah. It's very true. However, I always thought I'd love this age the most (4-5). I chose to teach Pre-K...I LOVED teaching children at this age because they were such sponges, and still so sweet. Yes, my girls are these things...but boy, is it different being a parent of a 4-5 year old and not just a teacher. Woah. The constant arguing, and whining, and trying to get the last word throws me over the edge some days. I have to catch my breath, and realize this too shall pass.
I am thankful though that with every bad moment there comes a good one. God is good that way. This morning there was arguing over finishing breakfast, which pair of socks they would wear, why they couldn't wear a certain pair of shoes, why their sister got piggy tails when they wanted piggies. Then, we get in the car and I couldn't find my sunglasses. Nelson left his in my car so I put them on. Mikayla told me I looked beautiful in them. Brianna told me I look beautiful in anything (they even try and one up each other in compliments to Mommy). It sure did help me forget that I had been so frustrated with them minutes before.
They are growing leaps and bounds these days. The other day Mikayla wrote a letter on her own just by sounding out words. It was Dad's night at school, and she wrote about her excitement about going with Daddy. She knows how to spell Dad and I love you. But, night was spelt Nt and happy was hp. These are really great emergent reader/writer signs. I'm so excited that she's excited about this. Mikayla has always been my little artist, and into writing. Now Brianna has been more excited about writing and drawing. It's so exciting to watch them grow and learn. I can't wait to have my girls reading to us next year. I think the next year will be full of so many rewarding moments as we watch them grow and blossom!
