Joshua had his 4 month appt. today. He weighs 14 lbs. 14 oz. He's in the 50th % for weight, and he's 26 inches, the 85th% for height. The dr. said he's doing great...hopefully we won't have to go back until 6 months....only 4 months and he's been sick twice!
That's what happens when you have big sisters in school! Speaking of school we had conferences at the girls' school. They are both doing great! I learned Brianna is not just bossy to her sis, but to all the kids! LOL. Their teacher said she's wonderful though when they tell her to worry about Brianna ;). The things they said about Mikayla are things I've known...she likes to be challenged....she's met all her goals for the school year so they are trying to push her to do more. Her fine motor has always exceeded her sister, and that's still the case. Brianna's problem solving is awesome though...I always say she's my little lawyer ;). The only thing they need to work on is cutting...and as a former pre-k teacher, all 4 yr. olds need to work on cutting...so needless to say we were very happy with the conference. Their teacher also told me they are good about playing with other kids, and doing different things in school. She said they'll be fine continuing in the same class together.
I also told the director of their school that we are changing preschools....not happy about it. Though, I can't afford to pay over $600 dollars a month when there is free VPK out there. We got our vouchers, and they'll most likely go to a school where my friend's kids go. Registration is on the 18th...so we'll see.

When I Grow Up...
We went to Chili's tonight, the girls got free kids meal certificates for being the "Shining Star" at school. So, we got dinner, and then splurged on dessert. The girls and I shared the chocolate molten cake (Nelson's not a chocolate eater...so he just watched :) ). Well, my girls might like chocolate as much as I do...and literally 2 minutes later there was nothing left on the plate.
Mikayla asked me if next time she could get her own dessert. I told her no, that it was too much sugar. In her very, I'm-too-big-for-my-britches-voice she told me..."When I grow up and become a Mommy I'm ordering my kids their own desserts and they are going to be allowed to eat it all up all by themselves.". I told her that I can't wait to see that :).

Rules
The movie, Hook, was on tv a couple days ago. We let the girls watch parts of it. Well, yesterday Mikayla tells Nelson she thinks Hook is nice. He asked her why, and she said because he lets Jack do whatever he wants. Nelson then explained how rules are important to keep you safe, and to help you make good choices. She then said, Grandma doesn't have rules for us.
This is why they don't listen to her...and why sometimes her help isn't very helpful. So frustrating. Rules and discipline are important people!

Actually excited...
So, the girls have been sick since Tuesday. We decided to bring them to the pediatrician today because it's ALWAYS Brianna's tendency to have a cold and get an ear infection over the weekend. Seriously, we've brought her to after hours 3 times (she's only had an ear infection 3 times since birth, and ALWAYS over the weekend). So, before hitting the weekend, we decided to get them seen. We expected to hear that they had a viral infection and nothing could be done. I hate dr. appt's like that. Not that I want to medicate my children, but when you see your child suffering it's nice knowing that you can give them an antibiotic or something that will help them feel better quickly. Whereas, with colds, they usually have to be miserable until they get better on their own. Well, they have a sinus infection, and dun dun da dun, Brianna has a small ear infection. So, they are both on antibiotics...hallelujah! Praying Joshua doesn't get it.

Joshua is still in our room. I know. He's almost 4 months old, lol. We tried for one night to put him in his crib, and our sleeping-through-the-night baby became an up twice a night baby....back in his bassinet and he sleeps from 10-7. My friend recommended putting him in his crib for naps to get him used to the crib...but he only naps in my arms or the swing...usually my arms. I know this is bad, but I actually love it. He's my last baby. He's very very spoiled when it comes to being held. I put him down for tummy time, playtime on his activity mat, in the swing when I need a break, bassinet at night and when Nelson hold him...the majority of the day he's in my arms. After having the girls, who turned four overnight...I know how quickly this stage goes. I just want to enjoy absolutely every second of it. We do need our room back...so I'm sure we'll try and transition putting the baby in his room soon...hoping it goes well...I am loving the sleep I am getting again :).
On an entirely different note, Tim Tebow is going to be in a Pro-Life commercial during the Super Bowl. I was very surprised by this. My brothers both walked in Washington to support life, and personally I'm pro-life, but I do think women should be allowed to be pro-choice. If a woman was attacked and chose abortion because she was afraid her baby would look like or act like her attacker I don't think it's my right to say that is wrong. I would say I wouldn't do it, but I've never been in those shoes. Anyway, I'm Catholic and any type of birth control is seen as wrong. We have made sure we won't have any more children with permnament birth control, and I hate the guilt that brings. For me, I know it's the right choice, and the only judge I have is God. God knows my heart, and my fears, and all that has happened and I feel God understands and supports our choice. Our family is complete. After our loss I knew I wanted another baby that our family wasn't complete yet. So, we tried again and God blessed us with a healthy babe...but, the entire pregnancy I was terrified. I cried his first month of life because I was so overwhelmed with joy and relief after being scared for so long. I do know though after being pregnant with Joshua that I can't be pregnant again. I can't go through that fear when I am so positive our family is complete. We also have a tendency of hitting odds. 1 in 250 pregnancies result in identical twins...BINGO! 1 in 1000 pregnancies result in a molar pregnacy...us again!!! So, we are a family of 5 and happy...yet, I hate the guilty feeling I have when someone at our church asks us if we'll have more...guilt...guilt...guilt. I need to not worry so much about what others think. As long as I feel good about my relationship with God, and my husband and I are on the same page that's all that matters.

Competitions
The girls have always treasured what is unique about themselves....lately it seems even more so. For example, Godparents. They each have their own, that is special just to them. They like to rub each other's face in it too. "My Godmother is coming to see me" "My Godmother loves Pooh bear like me" "My Godmother has a kitty like I love" "My Godfather loves when I call him Godfather" "My Godfather is Mr. Tickles". LOL. They've always bantered back and forth about why their Godparent out does the other because that is their special, unique part of them. They share everything (a room, a classroom, toys, parents, and at one time a womb ;) ) SO, they really are loving their individual aspects of themselves lately.
We went to the dentist last week. Mikayla had to get sealants on her two bottom molars. Brianna did not. Yesterday, Mikayla ran to my parents and had to show off her sealants (which you can't tell she has), because she was proud she got it done and not Brianna. (I'm not telling her it's actually better that Brianna didn't need sealants put on her teeth, but I did tell her the $87 I had to spend on her sealants ;) ).
Then, last night my parents took the girls to dinner and Mikayla said, "When I was in Mommy's tummy I was baby A. Brianna chimed in and announced she was Baby B, just like her first letter of her name. Mikayla then asked my Mom what brother was. My mom said he didn't have a letter because he was the only baby in my tummy. Mikayla said, well I think he was A. Brianna got upset by this, and my mom assured Brianna that brother wasn't A. Mikayla, then said, Ok, he was Baby C then sounded out ccccaats (which is her favorite animal and I'm sure a backhanded way of trying to make Joshua more like her than Brianna). OH GEEZ.
This competetive behavior is becoming more and more obvious. I'm thinking about cutting one of the girls' hair short so that gives them more of an identity too. When I brought it up to them though they both wanted to get their hair cut. (I think more for the experience with Mommy). When I told them they both could get a haircut just one a trim and one short they liked that idea...so we'll see).
Brianna told me the other day that she doesn't understand why everyone gets her and her sister mixed up. I told her because they are twins and look alike, and sometimes it's hard for people to tell them apart, and if it makes you upset to just say "I'm not Mikayla, I'm Brianna". Mikayla joined this conversation and said, but Mom, I have a freckle on my forehead and sis has one abover her mouth, we look SO different. LOL.

So much fun!
I am absolutely loving the fun new stage Joshua has hit...but, totally missing his 0-3 month cuddle bug stage. Now he wants to be entertained, and today everytime I put him on his belly he rolled over! He wants to play and swat at toys, and is a lot of fun. He still is wanting to be cuddled just not as much as the newborn stage. Strange that I'll never have that again. Hoping lots of my friends have more babies so I can go enjoy their baby's cuddle stage ;). Speaking of that we are anxiously arriving the arrival of our friends' son, Colton!
The girls are amazing. They sure are getting an attitude here and there though. The other day I ran out to the mall with Brianna and she said, "Mom, I don't have the words to tell you how great today was". Then later said, "This was the best day ever". Ahhhh. So amazing. Literally walking for 30 min. in the mall to grab a gift and taking pictures in a photo booth then headed home...and this meant SO much to her. We try and do one-on-one time...Mikayla loved being at home with Daddy and playing a game while Joshua was sleeping. Mikayla has a tendency to be in Mikayla land...and the other day she asked me something and I said, "Mikayla I just answered that question, you need to listen". She said, "Mom, I'm sorry could you please repeat yourself". LOL...she talks like such a big girl. I can't get over how big they are getting. We did an art project for school today and their cutting skills and creative ideas were really wonderful.
Just feeling very proud of my kiddos today. It was a long weekend, but as it comes to a close I'm thinking about how very very blessed I am.

Happy New Year!
Year in Review: This year has been so wonderful...here are the highlights :)
January: We got the "all clear" from the Dr. to try and get pregnant after FINALLY being negative after months of testing my hcg after a partial molar pregnancy. Thank God I was cancer free, and able to try after the shortest wait time for partial molar pregnancies. Nelson and I went to Amelia Island and rode horses on the beach and were ready to face 2009 with a positive outlook. Our friends, Sara and Dan, also welcomed their son Evan this month!
February: We found out the first week of Feb. that we were expecting! God blessed us and let it happen immediately for us! No morning sickness either! Quite a different pregnancy from the girls :). Nelson turned 27. We had visits from my cousins and Anna and Shawn this month too! Lots of fun! Our friends, Theresa and Andy welcomed their son, Elijah, this month!
March: Pregnancy was going well! Girls were in ballet classes and loving it!
April: We planned quite the trip for the end of April and beginning of May. In April we drove from FL to Pennsylvania and stayed in Hershey. The girls loved the chocolate factory, children's garden, and caves we got to explore. We then headed to New York!
May: This month was an incredible one for our family. We started the month off in NY visiting with our good friends and celebrating their daughter, Madelyln's birthday. Then, we were off to Niagra Falls! SO beautiful, and even though the girls and I got really sick we had such a blast. Such wonderful memories were made. On our way home we stopped in NC and got to visit with our cousins and Anna. When we got home I had an ultrasound that showed we were expecting a BOY! More importantly, it showed our babe looked nice and healthy! The girls also had their ballet recital this year and did such a great job.
June: Nelson and I celebrated our 6th anniversary! It fell on Father's Day so along with celebrating our love, we celebrated the fact that Nelson is such a great Dad. Nelson and I also became Godparents to Rebecca and Justine, our girls' best friends. It was such an honor, and we are looking forward to help guide them religiously and being a special role in their lives.
July: I turned 28...inching way too close to my 30's :). I also got to go to Savannah with some of my best girls, Alison and Alison for a much-needed girls weekend :). It was made even more special by the fact that we were all expecting! Two of my friends welcomed babies into the world. Jen, had Leah (who was due on my birthday!) and Maureen had baby Zachary :).
August: The girls started pre-school again. Anna came to town and threw me a wonderful baby shower. The month ended with me and half my family getting the swine flu...ugh.
September: Was a month of taking it easy before the arrival of our babe. Nelson and I also became Godparents to our friends, Jen and Carl's daughter, Leah. It is such an honor and we look forward to watching her grow up in God's light.
October: Well, was this quite a month! On the 6th we welcomed our son...Joshua Nelson all 7 lbs and 13 oz of pure perfection! It went exactly as I had hoped and on the 8th we were all home together! On the 9th my girls turned 4!!!!!!!! What a week this will forever be in our family :). Our close friends, Alison and Bob, welcomed their daughter Mabel two weeks later!
November: Is another month of birthdays in my family...Mom, sister and youngest brother. November seemed to fly by and we celebrated Thanksgiving with so much to be thankful for. I also got to go to my close friend, Alison's baby shower. It was Joshua's first big outing :).
December: Was full of Christmas activities, Joshua's Baptism, and celebrating Jesus' birth with family and the joy in our kids' eyes. We end '09 with the baby having RSV, and Mommy being sick...but besides illnesses this year I can't imagine how it could be topped :).
What an amazing year it has been, and I'm looking forward to what the next decade holds. When 2000 began I was in a different relationship and in my first year of college...and here I am in 2010 going to celebrate my 7th year of marriage, 3 kids, a home we love, family close, this was such an amazing decade! I'm blessed to also still be surrounded by a group of friends I treasure and love.
