I donated!

Nella Cordelia turns one tomorrow! She is the daughter of Kelle Hampton who I've been following since she wrote a raw, emotional, beautiful birth story last year when she first met her daughter, Nella. Nella has down syndrome. The way Kelle embraces life, and celebrating her children's moments big or small is inspiring. In two weeks Kelle's raised almost 100,000 dollars for NDSS. She started off hoping to reach $15,000 but soon learned many many more people were invested in helping her reach her goal. So exciting to see how many people care about her sweet girl and the 400,000 other people in America with down syndrome.

My parents have worked in the special needs world forever, and I have people I love with special needs. It's wonderful that Kelle's a voice for people all over who love someone with a magic chromosome, or any type of disability...to see it's not about seeing just the way someone looks but really noticing who they are. I've really seen in the past year of Joshua being a babe noticing things I took for granted with the girls. Things that people with a special needs baby cheer for, I see myself smiling at instead of just assuming that skill will be there. It's important to see the little things and realize little things are big things too, never to be taken for granted.

Tomorrow, Nella turns one, so if you can go over there today and donate...just click the banner under her blog's header! www.kellehampton.com
